Discovering Zante: A Culinary Adventure at The Olive Tree Restaurant
A Hot Summer Visit to Zante
So, G and I visited Zante this year in early July 2025, and it was HOT! It’s been a few years since we have visited in peak season, opting for trips in March or September/October. Sometimes, we even stayed in Zante Town when the resorts were closed.
Dining at The Olive Tree Restaurant
One of our favorite places to eat is The Olive Tree Restaurant in Kalamaki. We often find ourselves here, enjoying their fabulous meze plate, which is large enough to share. We also love their beautiful frygania. However, this time, G was feeling a bit overheated, and we thought we might not do justice to the meze. So, we decided to try something different.
We started with olives and pita, as we weren’t particularly hungry. I ordered a Diet Coke, while G opted for a margarita. We also got some water for the table.
Main Courses to Savor
For our mains, I chose a delicious beef stifado served with Greek potatoes. G had yuvesti. After a refreshing mojito, we decided to indulge in the frygania for G, while I enjoyed a coffee. I must say, their frygania is elite! It is served with a cherry sauce and is utterly delicious. I should also mention that this was the largest latte I had on the island during our ten-day stay!
Our total spend was 78 euros.
A Second Visit: More Delicious Choices
We revisited a week later, and I savored a fillet steak while G opted for Gemista this time. Again, the food was totally delicious and fairly priced.
This time, we finished with a sharing plate of two cakes: one small frygania and one small chocolate cake. Of course, I had another of their huge lattes!
Why The Olive Tree is Always Busy
The Olive Tree is always bustling, and for good reason. It is a spacious restaurant with ample seating. The food is plentiful and fairly priced. They offer special early bird deals, where you might get a free starter if you dine early, or perhaps a complimentary frygania. Like most restaurants in the resort, you will always receive some sort of free shot before you leave—sometimes flavored liqueurs, sometimes a spirit, or perhaps a shot of wine.
The staff are friendly and attentive, but you never feel rushed. I am sure that G and I will return for another delicious dinner when we visit the island again in September.
A Note for Greek Food Lovers
Thanks for reading! If you enjoy Greek food, then The Olive Tree is the place to visit. Just as a side note, they are also known for their Mexican dishes!
Wherever you decide to eat in Kalamaki, enjoy!
See you soon,
Tracey xx
