Peggy Sue Restaurant Athens - breakfast

Peggy Sue is an absolute gem of a find. Located just a short walk from the hustle and bustle of Ermou Street and Monastiraki Square, this beauty is the perfect stop off for a hearty breakfast, great coffee, a nice brunch or lunch and they even sell their own merch !

We visited in November and despite being considered low season, we did have a short wait to be assigned to a table. Downstairs is a standard restaurant layout with the upstairs arranged gallery style - great if you want to look down and see what everyone is ordering for their breakfast ! With a menu packed with brioche, eggs, avocado, toast and pastries it has everything you could ever desire for breakfast ..... and MORE.

We opted for the Jenga Tower - a tower of block shaped french toast treats, drenched in sugar and cinnamon and stacked to resemble the iconic game. We actually both opted for standard breakfasts AS WELL! I had eggs and bacon with sourdough and G had truffle eggs on toast but we just HAD to share the Tower and see what all the fuss was about! Served with dipping sauces (white, milk and speculoos chocolate) we were in heaven. Now this breakfast option is not for the faint of heart, trust me, your blood sugars will elevate and your endorphins will flow. This really is pleasure on a plate!

Cost wise, we spent about 40 euros - our breakfast plates were around 10 euros each, with 10 euros for the smaller Jenga and two drinks so not too shabby at all. You are given iced water at the table for free, however be aware that this could very well be tap water and if like me you are a little sensitive, it is best to avoid this. G however manages to drink the tap water wherever we are in the world!

This is definitely somewhere I'd return to when I'm next in Athens. It has a friendly vibe, is clean and cheerful and the staff are friendly. Yes it does get a little busy but you will not be disappointed.

Just to add as a final note, they do sell their own merchandise in store in the form of Peggy Sue branded bowls, tee shirts and slogan caps.

This branch of Peggy Sue is situated at 15 Thiseion, Athens.
