Let’s take a Helicopter Trip over the Las Vegas Strip

So G and I visited Fabulous Las Vegas in late August / early September, flying into Harry Reid International airport from Chicago. We were just past the mid way point of our 7 city tour of Canada and the USA.

One of the many things we wanted to do whilst in Vegas was to take a helicopter tour over the strip. Looking at the options available you can find numerous trips on Viator of course, which is what we did, booking in advance to secure our place and paying two days before at which point the tickets become available in the App. There are of course other operators offering trips both during the day and at night but for us, booking so many trips through Viator meant that we ended up with quite a lot of reward points which convert into £££’s for us to spend on something else!

For our trip you were required to provide details of your weight so that they can distribute the weight evenly in the helicopter. We also needed to ring the day before to check that the flight was still going ahead as obviously, tours are subject to the weather conditions.

We were picked up at our hotel at 10pm, with a flight time of around 11.30pm. On arrival at the airport you are given a safety demonstration and are given the rules and regulations for the flight. They request that ALL bags are placed into the free lockers provided and that you only fly with your phone / camera. You are also asked to bring photo ID with you which is shown on arrival.

Remember that when in a helicopter you are required to wear a headset which means that whatever you say during the flight is heard by all!

With the flight itself lasting around 20 minutes we flew over the strip, flying over The Venetian, right up over Las Vegas Boulevard, flying right around The Strat tower, over the Paris Hotel with its mini Eiffel Tower, over the mini Statue of Liberty and over the High Roller! The views are incredible and with the flight priced at £192 for two, it is relatively expensive but in my opinion this is a must do! It really is something special to see the whole of the strip lit up below.

After our flight we popped into the small gift shop which was still open despite the late hour, and purchased a Las Vegas re-usable plastic cup as a souvenir of our trip.

We were then taken back down to our hotel where we were dropped off outside; this is included in the price of the ticket.

This was booked initially as a fun way to round off G’s birthday in Vegas, however it really was a fun thing to do and is something I would definitely do again, perhaps next time during the day time.

So whatever you do in Vegas, have fun!
