Located on the corner of Miropoleos and Patroou in the heart of the City, this gem of a bakery is a real find. If you are looking for a melt in the mouth croissant, danish pastry, cake, loaf or savoury item, then 72H Bakery Athens is the place for you.
We visited in early November and opted for their infamous cinnamon roll! At around 4 euros, it is a sticky, cinnamon delight with beautiful layers with a warming, slightly spicey and sticky topping. The queues for this item alone strung out along the street so arrive early - trust me, the wait will be worth it! With a window for purchasing baked goods, and another where you can order coffee, this is a popular bakery with on premises baking, friendly staff and is great value for money. Beware though - we came back for a second visit as I had been dreaming about the hazelnut chocolate croissants and when we got there in the evening they were sold out.
You can of course order ahead for collection or place an order for delivery or, if you have a little more time, perhaps visit the eatery next door and enjoy a more leisurely experience (although it should be noted that hotel guests are given priority over seating as it is somewhat limited).
